The basics
What exactly is Thenomba Senior?
A school of humanities designed for individuals over the age of 60. A 12-month guided journey through the great human questions: philosophy, history, art, science, nature, spirituality, and much more. This is not a conventional course; it is a companion for a year-long journey.
For whom is it intended?
For any older adult with time and curiosity: retirees, those in pre-retirement, caregivers at home, grandparents with many questions, and former professionals who wish to keep their minds active. No prior studies are required.
How long does the journey take?
Twelve months, with complete access from day one. Each month we traverse one of the 12 stages, but you may proceed slower or faster. It does not close: the journey is yours.
How daily life works
How much time do I need to dedicate to it each day?
Twenty minutes. If you have more time one day, all the better. If you cannot make it one day, it does not matter. The program awaits you. The important thing is not to let go.
Do I need to have knowledge of computers or the internet?
No. If you know how to watch videos on your phone or read an email, you already know everything you need. We will send you a clear, step-by-step guide, and if you get stuck on anything, a member of our team will call you on the phone. Truly.
Are there exams, homework, or assignments to submit?
None. Here, there is no passing or failing. There are reflections and a personal notebook, but you keep them for yourself. It is an inner journey, not a course.
Can I do it from my mobile phone, tablet, or computer?
Yes, from wherever is comfortable for you. The platform is simple, with large text and everything clearly marked.
What if I get lost or do not understand a stage?
You have a dedicated ally assigned to you throughout the year. You can write or call them, and they will help you pick up where you left off whenever you need.
Allies and Community
Who are the allies?
More than 40 contemporary voices: philosophers, writers, historians, anthropologists, jurists, and scientists. The majority hold doctorates in their respective fields. And all are professionals who embody and live what they teach. They are not typical professors; they are allies.
Will I be alone on this trip?
No. You have an ally all year round. And, above all, you have a community: people of your same age who share the same desire to keep learning. There are live meetings, conversation groups, and, whenever possible, in-person activities.
Are there live sessions?
Yes. Periodically, we host conversations with authors and teachers, as well as gatherings among NOMBAs. You may attend in person or watch the recording afterward.
Can I do it with my partner, sibling, or friend?
Of course. It is wonderful to do it in the company of others. If two or more of you sign up, we offer discounts.
Price and payment methods
How much does Thenomba Senior cost?
The complete journey costs €987 per person, which includes 12 months of access, a personal ally, and all materials. Significant discounts are available for groups (associations, cultural centers, municipalities): a 10% discount for groups of 5 or more, and up to 50% off for groups of 50 or more.
And what if my city council or association is going to finance it?
In many cases, it may be free or highly subsidized. If your local city council, cultural center, or association is interested, we can connect the right people and prepare a tailored proposal.
Can I pay in installments?
Yes. Call us and we will find the formula that best fits your needs. Card, bank transfer, or direct debit. No permanent commitment required.
